Ask Me Anything!: How Do We Cultivate Belonging?
In order to learn, students need to genuinely experience a sense of belonging within their environment. According to Stanford psychologist Geoffrey Cohen, a lack of belonging takes up working memory to a point at which mental energy is diverted from learning. Right now, schools are in a position where the stakes around student wellness are higher than ever due to the effects of the pandemic. How then, as educators, can we affirm who our students are and prioritize their psychological safety? Join GOA’s Associate Director of Learning Experience, Ellen Min Hartman, and a panel of GOA teachers as they discuss how to design equitable learning experiences that cultivate belonging and support students’ well-being. The panel will offer insights and strategies to support cultivating belonging, whether in-person or online, and will answer participant questions.

Registrants will be provided with a video recording after the event.
