Ask Me Anything: How Do We Build Collaborative Communities?
As educators, we know that collaboration is an essential, enduring lifelong skill that our students will need for life after school and in their careers. How students connect with each other and with their learning is an academic and social-emotional priority. However, at the same time, we’re seeing that it’s not enough just to put students into situations where they have to collaborate; having a class discussion or assigning a group project is no guarantee that collaboration will occur. So, then how can we as educators intentionally connect our students in authentic, meaningful, and purposeful ways? How do we transition away from a model of collaboration as “divide and conquer” to one of “co-creation”? What are ways in which we can coach students on their collaboration skills? How can we employ expectations, protocols, and frameworks that foster student collaboration? Join GOA and a panel of educators as they explore how to build collaborative communities built on trust, care, and high expectations.

Registrants will be provided with a video recording after the event.
